SDG 1. No Poverty
Locinox engages itself for charity in the Belgian society. The company foresees an annual budget for charity projects put forward by the employees whereby the company uses a matching principle. The company will match the value of the
donation by the employee or the corresponding value of the charity labor hours. The company also foresees an annual budget for a group charity project. In the past, the company’s group project has been Villarozerood.be and the Children
Cancer society. Lately, we have been sponsoring the breast cancer charity De Roze Mars.
SDG 3. Good Health and Well-Being
Our people are the key contributor to any added value that we create for our stakeholders. As an employer, we strive to create a safe and healthy working environment. Our activities require a lot of manual interventions & physical lifting
which are stressful for the body, and especially the backs of our employees. That’s why we have heavily invested in automatic conveyor belts throughout the company to avoid lifting of the goods. In addition to the technological challenges
in the field of the product, our engineering & methodology department has also created our own (automated) machines that facilitate the assembly work to be done.
We also stimulate our people to increase the activity levels in their day-to-day life since it keeps them healthy but also clears their mind and makes them stand happier in life. Sport is promoted at Locinox with our own running group
and a yearly factory run-thru event.
SDG 4. Quality Education
As a company, we believe very much in continuous simultaneous improvement, not only of our products but also in our processes, systems, organization and of our people. We are committed to invest in the development of our people, as well as
expanding their sustainable careers by guiding them in their training and providing an optimal work-life balance. Our commitment regarding sustainable career policy was illustrated by the ESF project (no. 6788) “Sustainable career
development” at Locinox.
SDG 5. Gender Equality
Locinox will treat every employee equally, especially women, with regard to career opportunities, compensation & benefits, social protection and advantages, education, etc. and this regardless of age, gender, race or sexual orientation. We
will actively see to it that this equality is respected throughout our own organization and will stimulate our subcontractors and partners to do likewise.
SDG 7. Affordable and clean energy
We have a fairly high electricity consumption, mainly for driving our CNC milling production machines. 15% of our total energy consumption is provided by our own solar panels and we would like to increase that amount to 40% in our new
building to which we will relocate early 2023.
The construction of our new factory in Waregem, called Locinox 4.0, is based on an approach that takes into account the “Trias Energetica or Reduced Energy Demand”: The energy demand is drastically limited, i.e. achieving the lowest
possible K-level, by building as compact as possible, providing sufficient insulation and good exterior joinery. Solar entry is avoided by limiting the glass surface on the south side and installing fixed external sun blinds on the south
side (by means of sun awnings). Renewable energy sources: The use of sustainable renewable energy sources such as solar panels (2000 m²), heat pumps will ensure that most of the energy will come from green energy. This will possibly be
linked to a BEO field (Boorgat Energy Storage). Efficient and economical machines with high yields: Finally, and last but not least, we make the choice for efficient and economical machines with high yields, so that the consumption of
fossil fuels is further reduced. This includes:
- The ventilation groups with heat recovery
- Demand-controlled ventilation based on CO2 emissions
- The boilers are condensing boilers with high efficiency
- The energy-efficient LED lighting, with the application of daylight control and presence.
We have a large number of company cars in the company but the average CO2 exhaust is only 109 grams. Our car policy has 5 categories and stringent rules on CO2 exhaust exit. Next to the car policy, we offer our employees the
ability to lease a company bicycle in exchange for gross salary in an effort to stimulate travel to the company by bike.
SDG 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
Locinox is a fast growing, international company with a clear double-digit growth strategy that is mainly driven by the search for added value through product innovation & product diversification but also by focusing heavily on digitization
and technological modernization of its production and logistic facilities.
Locinox has been also been actively promoting the use of social employment. We have been working closely together with the WAAK to provide a group of people with an interesting and stimulating job environment.
For everyone at Locinox, these collaborators of the WAAK are not 'mercenaries', but thoroughbred colleagues who are perfectly integrated throughout the Locinox organization. Both the Locinox colleagues and themselves see them more as part
of our team than as employees of the Waak.
SDG 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Innovation is the lifeblood of Locinox and we believe very much that innovation brings prosperity for all of our stakeholders. Half our revenues growth should come from products which are not 3 years old.
SDG 12. Responsible consumption and production
From a product perspective, Locinox has been developing durable products ever since. Our products are conceptualized in such a way that they should last 20 years outdoor. Furthermore, they have been designed in such a way that after
their lifespan they can be easily de-assembled and all their respective.
Our standard product warranty is 3 years and is extended for free to 5 years for registered customers because we firmly believe in the durability of our products.
Recycling: All of the components we use in our products should be designed with components which can be easily recycled. In our production facility, we have introduced waste sorting bins throughout the entire factory.
Ethical standards: Since we also source components from China, India and Taiwan, we have signed stringent supplier subcontractor contracts obliging them to respect ethical standards with regard to child labor, respect of workers,
etc.
SDG 15. Life on Land
C02 exhaust not only needs to be limited from all perspectives, but it also needs to be compensated for. The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now! In an effort to ‘greenify’ ourselves, we have already
planted 300 high-rise trees on our new 2023 Locinox 4.0 factory location.
